The Coffee Bean - Affordable Print Advertising

The Coffee Bean is a weekly publication which is distributed to businesses within and around the city of Yorkton, Saskatchewan. The publication is for all ages and includes games/puzzles (Sudoko/Word Search/Crosswords/Trivia), recipes, advertorials, a Kids Activity Page and jokes. It is a much-loved publication as it is a fun, easy read - my claim is "No news, no doom, no gloom, no current events - just fun and light-hearted reading." This is a home-based business ran solely by the owner and is a perfect part-time or full-time enterprise. The publication is free with revenue coming from the sale of low-cost advertising. There are several businesses who have been in every issue since 2018! Advertisers report favourable results from their ad campaigns. This is a low-cost business to operate. Expenses of the business include Xerox printer lease, 11x17" paper and service use for copies printed. The lease is $250 per month, I have a good contract for pricing on paper and service rate is very low. The cost of a single issue is approximately .15 cents and I print 1,000 per week. Even in slower times such as January and July, the business makes a profit. The business isn't where it should be due to the owner not being motivated and for the past few years, just doing the basics. Potential is huge. The other print media within the city has just been sold. Their format has changed and business is slow for them. This also increases the sales/income potential for a new owner who has the time and energy to put into it. There is also huge potential to do either a franchise and/or a digital format in surrounding communities and provinces. This is something I have checked into but never followed up, due to lack of time mostly. I also do not have any (or very little) social media presence. I have faced a lot of health issues as well as tragic deaths in my immediate family in the past few years. I am also at retirement age and feel its time to sell. $30,000 includes the business, client list, past issues, training for the right individual, email address, Facebook page, etc. It would also include taking over the current lease with Xerox - set in place for the next 2 years. I would also look at the possibility of selling for $20,000 without including the lease take over. I am willing to work with and negotiate with the right owner.
